FAQs

  1. What should I wear? Something comfy and shoes without a lot of grip.

  2. Do I need a partner? No partner required! We rotate partners frequently.

  3. What if I have two left feet? Don't worry, we've got spare right feet!

  4. Where do you teach? Port Panthers (Beginners and Improvers) and La Vive Dance Studio (Intermediate).

  5. As a beginner, when's the best time to start? Ideally, the beginning of a block (22 July, 26 August, 14 October, or 18 November 2025). That said, come when it suits you, we won't turn anyone keen away.

  6. How much do classes cost? From just $5. Check out our class schedule for details.

  7. Should I lead or follow? Thankfully roles in dancing are no longer determined by gender, so anyone can lead or follow. We suggest you stick to one for a while so that you get the hang of it.

  8. I’ve done one class and I still can’t dance… should I give up? Not at all!  Were you amazing the first time you tried to walk? Drive? Swim? Write your name? Dancing’s no different!  Instead, ask yourself: Did I enjoy the music? The vibe? Do I want to get better? If the answer’s yes - that’s all you need! Keep going. We’ve got you!

  9. How do I get better, faster? Great question, here are our top tips:

  • Come to classes and practise / social events and dance with different people.

  • Practise between classes, even 10min makes a huge difference!  Start slow to get it right, then get faster.

  • Dance with your instructor, ask for feedback or get a private lesson

  • Listen to the music in your day-to-day life. You can check out our playlists here
